Sun City International, known as Sun City, is home to a golfer’s paradise. Nestled in the rolling hills of the Pilanesberg National Park, just 90 minutes drive from Johannesburg in the North West Province. Sun City is a sprawling metropolis of hotels, restaurants, golf courses, and resort amenities that has earned the reputation of Africa’s “Kingdom of Pleasure.” Home to two hotels, and world-class restaurants, Sun City is home to two championship golf courses known as The Gary Player Country Club and Lost City Country Club. The former was the first to be built in 1979; it is home to the Nedbank Golf Challenge and is considered the better of the two golf courses by PGA standards. The Lost City Course was built in 1992 with a layout that is more accessible to club golfers and holidaymakers but still alluring in its design. Sun City is the northern equivalent to Fancourt Resort (on the southern Garden Route), with both facilities ranking in the top South African golf courses consistently.
